Swiss President & Federal Councillor for Economic Affairs H.E. Doris Leuthard visited A*STAR on 9 July. President Leuthard, was in Singapore for a one-day visit following her State Visit to Indonesia with a business delegation from 6-8 July 2010. While in Singapore, she met Singapore’s President SR Nathan, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratum and Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang. The purpose of her visit to A*STAR was to further deepen the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and Switzerland on science and research. At A*STAR, she was hosted by Managing Director A*STAR, Ms Yena Lim. President Leuthard also had the opportunity to visit the JTC One-North Gallery.
President Leuthard previously visited Biopolis previously in 2006, in her capacity as Federal Councillor for Economic Affairs then, where she visited Swissnex and the Novartis Institute for Tropic Disease (NITD).
