Planning
- Increases international awareness of BMRC's research activities and forge effective international partnerships with universities, academic and government organisations
- Develops and maintains platforms for scientific communication and outreach to the international and local research communities
- Plans and coordinates the programmes and budget of BMRC research units, supports governance structures such as the BMRC Board, Biomedical Sciences Executive Committee and the Biomedical Sciences International Advisory Council
Graduate Affairs Office
- Manages the deployment and placement of returning PhD scholars into A*STAR research institutes (RIs)
- Coordinates training attachments of NSS scholars on summer and one-year research attachment programmes with A*STAR RIs
Research Institutes and Consortia
- Facilitates and oversees the development of core research capabilities within A*STAR research units
- Works with strategic partners to administer and develop the new initiatives and programmes
Research Support
- Oversees the development of the A*STAR research support units including Biopolis Shared Facilities and Biological Resource Centre to support the research of A*STAR and the biomedical sciences sector in general
- Facilitates activities of business development units, including the Experimental Therapeutic Centre and Industry Development Group, to help expedite commercial outcomes, specifically bench-to-bedside applications, through the drug discovery process and industry collaborations.
Strategic Partnerships
- Supports biomedical research in the wider scientific community such as public universities and hospitals through competitive grants that may be investigator-initiated or directed by a given theme
- Actively promotes translational medicine and cross-disciplinary research, as part of its efforts to advance human healthcare
Industry Development Group (IDG)
- Promotes interaction between BMRC RIs and academic/industry collaborators
- Assists in the preparation of contracts and legal agreements
- Guides the researchers through the drug discovery and development process, through early identification of Intellectual Property (IP) and development of business ideas
Armed with an in-depth understanding of the research portfolios at BMRC, IDG works closely with the Biomedical Sciences Industry Partnership Office (BMS IPO) and EDB in identifying, packaging and marketing A*STAR technologies and platforms to industry.

Biomedical Sciences Industry Partnership Office (BMS IPO)
- A jointly funded (A*STAR, EDB and MOH) national business development arm for BMS research in Singapore
- Actively identifies research strengths in Singapore’s universities, research institutes, hospitals and medical centres, and matches these areas with company interests
- Facilitates multi-institutional collaborations with industry and specifically manages public-private collaborations with a number of key industry players
- Works with A*STAR, EDB and MOH to drive new industry engagements and research or capability development initiatives across Singapore
