Mr Ong Boon Hwee

Beyond Horizon Consulting Pte Ltd

Mr Ong Boon Hwee is the Managing Director of Beyond Horizon Consulting (BHC), a Singapore-based consultancy firm for leadership development and organisational transformation. BHC works with leaders and organisations across geography and sectors, focusing on people development, strategic thinking and change management. BHC customises training as well as conducts strategic planning in focus areas.

Mr Ong also jointly owns Stratton Management Company (SMC) through which he manages his joint investment and partnership in various sectors including renewable energy.     
 
Mr Ong has extensive working experience in the civil service as well as the commercial sectors. Brigadier-General Ong held key command and staff positions in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).  He commanded operational units up to Division level and was the Chief Armour Officer. He was equally experienced in senior level staff work and policy planning, including in areas like strategic planning, force structuring and also human resource management.  He was the SAF Head of Joint Operations, responsible for operational planning and crisis management. He left the Ministry of Defence in 2002 to move into a corporate career in management and business.
 
Joining Temasek Holdings, Mr Ong was the MD responsible for Strategic Relations & Projects.  He was concurrently the CEO of Temasek Management Services (TMS), managing subsidiaries of diverse businesses including logistics, IT, training and consulting. Under his leadership, TMS established new businesses and institutions including the Business Leadership Centre and the Wealth Management Institute. These institutions focused on training and development for senior-level and high-potential leaders, combining theoretical concepts with a practitioner approach. 

Subsequent to Temasek Holdings, Mr Ong was the COO of Singapore Power (SP), responsible for SP’s business units in Singapore. He also supervised the Group corporate functions including human resources and corporate communications. Concurrently, he drove the business growth of SP Global-Solutions, which was SP’s regional consultancy and training arm.

Mr Ong serves on the boards of companies and organizations of diverse sectors.  He is currently a Director on the boards of companies including Singapore LNG Company, Singapore Technology Kinetics, AETOS Security, Singapore Institute of Management and OpenNet (Broadband).  Mr Ong also serves on the boards of several non-profit organisations including A*STAR, Temasek Foundation, SIM Open-University, Singapore Millennium Foundation, and National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre.

Mr Ong graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from the National University of Singapore. He also holds a Masters Degree in Military Arts & Science from the United States Command & General Staff College.
