A*STAR's research institutes has researchers and scientists developing technologies and intellectual properties across multiple Science and Engineering disciplines and Biomedical Research areas. Exploit Technologies manages and consolidates all research institutes' intellectual properties under one roof as a one-stop centre for research institutes, industries and enterprises.

Through licensing deals and spin-offs with industry partners, Exploit Technologies enhances the research output of its scientists by translating their inventions into marketable products or processes. In so doing, intellectual property becomes relevant to industry. They generate a value-added edge and jobs for the Singapore economy.

Objectives

• Develop an efficient system to manage A*STAR’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Forge closer links with industry to facilitate exchange and interactions in an environment conductive for technology transfer to industry by:
  • Promoting A*STAR’s technologies to industry through training, collaborations and licensing.
  • Spurring the creation and development of incubator units and spin-off companies.

Strategic Thrusts

As the strategic marketing and commercialization arm of A*STAR, Exploit Technologies is a key driver of technology transfer in Singapore. It actively engages industry leaders and players to commercialize A*STAR's technologies and capabilities, bridging the gap from Mind to Market.

Working closely with industry players, ETPL identifies viable commercial avenues for inventions created by A*STAR's researchers and transforms them into new products, processes and therapies to benefit mankind.

ETPL provides access to Singapore's large pool of intellectual property and knowledge generated by over 2,000 researchers at A*STAR's research institutes.

Making use of the most up-to-date scientific techniques and knowledge available, A*STAR's research institutes create cutting edge technology with highly promising market potential.
