Data Storage Institute (DSI)
The Magnetics Technology Centre (MTC), established in 1992, was renamed Data Storage Institute (DSI) in 1996. The research institute's vision is to be a vital node in a global community of knowledge generation and innovation, nurturing research talent and capabilities for world-class R&D in next generation storage technologies.
With core competencies in network storage, non-volatile memory and high-density magnetic recording technologies, DSI is equipped with state-of the-art facilities for advanced R&D as well as system design and prototyping.
DSI is also a member of the non-profit Information Storage Industry Consortium (INSIC) of USA.

Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES)
Established in 2002, the mission of ICES is to carry out world-class scientific research, to develop novel technology and to nurture creative scientists and engineers to support economic growth in Singapore and to make a positive difference to society.
ICES’ research areas cover chemistry and chemical engineering science, combined with advanced analytical characterisation and measurement to develop state of the art technology for the petrochemical, general chemical, fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC)
IHPC was established in April 1998 to provide leadership in high performance computing as a strategic resource for scientific inquiry. IHPC seeks to power discoveries through advanced methodologies, techniques and new tools in modelling, simulation and visualisation.
Its research foci are in the realm of complex-coupled systems, mechanics and fluid dynamics, large-scale systems, scientific computing and software development, digital modelling, adaptive and collaborative computing, data mining and analyses, computational electronics and electromagnetics, computational material and chemistry.

Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R)
I²R (pronounced as i-squared-r) was established in 2002. Its mission is to be the globally preferred source of innovations in `Interactive Secured Information, Content and Services Anytime Anywhere’ through research by passionate people dedicated to Singapore’s economic success.
I²R performs R&D in information, communications and media (ICM) technologies to develop holistic solutions across the ICM value chain. Its research capabilities are in information technology, wireless and optical communication networks, interactive and digital media; signal processing and computing.

Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE)
Established in September 1997, IMRE seeks to create materials knowledge, develop human capital and to transform technology through innovative research. It houses talented researchers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as the SERC Nanofabrication and Characterisation Facility to conduct world-class materials science research.
Over the years, IMRE has also built strong capabilities in materials analysis, characterisation, materials growth, patterning, fabrication, synthesis and integration.

Institute of Microelectronics (IME)
IME was established in 1991 to provide a national focus on R&D in microelectronics. Positioned to bridge the R&D between academia and industry, IME's mission is to add value to Singapore's semiconductor industry by developing strategic competencies, innovative technologies and intellectual property; enabling enterprises to be technologically competitive; and cultivating a technology talent pool to inject new knowledge to the industry.
Its key research areas are in integrated circuits design, advanced packaging, bioelectronics, MEMS, nanoelectronics and photonics.

National Metrology Centre (NMC)
Established in 1975, NMC is Singapore's national metrology institute responsible for developing, maintaining and disseminating national physical measurement standards to underpin the nation's infrastructure of traceability for measurement to the International System of Units (SI).
NMC provides a wide range of measurement and calibration services in dimensional, electrical, mechanical, photometry, temperature and humidity metrology which are traceable to national and international standards

Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech)
The GINTIC Institute of Manufacturing Technology, which had a history that dated back to 1993, became known as the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) on 4 July 2002.
SIMTech aims to develop high value manufacturing technology and human capital to contribute to the competitiveness of the Singapore industry. The focus areas of its research include Production and Logistics, Advanced Forming and Joining Technology, Machining Technology, Mechatronics, Precision Measurement, Advanced Automation and Product Design and Development.
