A*STAR Graduate Scholarship
A joint collaboration between A*STAR Graduate Academy, the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), this scholarship funds PhD studies in Singapore. Students will have an opportunity to undertake research at his/her chosen A*STAR Research Institute and register candidature at either NUS or NTU. As A*STAR is concerned with developing individuals’ research careers, the four-year PhD will be followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at a top university or research laboratory. Students will also have opportunities for overseas attachment of up to 12 months during their PhD studies.

Eligibility
- Open to Singaporeans, Singaporean Permanent Residents and ASEAN Nationals. Successful candidates who are not Singaporeans are required to take up Singapore Citizenship.
- Candidates must satisfy criteria for PhD admission to NUS/NTU
- Graduates with 1st Class Honours; or Graduates with 2nd Upper Class Honours
- Good O and A level track records/Polytechnic students who obtained a Diploma with Merit will also be considered.
- Candidates must not concurrently hold any other scholarships or fellowships
- Scores from the GRE General Test are required of all applicants.
- Awardees are expected to sit for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and attain at least a score of :*
- Verbal and Quantitative - 319
- Analytical Writing - 4.5
AGS scholarships tenable at NUS/NTU will not be required to do a one year research attachment at A*STAR. They can proceed immediately for their PhD.
*All candidates are encouraged to apply with their GRE test scores. Applications without GRE test scores will still be considered but applicants (if awarded the scholarship), will have to satisfy the GRE requirement prior to them embarking on their PhD studies.
Coverage
Successful candidates will be given support for up to 4 years of academic pursuit. They will receive:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly sustenance allowance
- Annual book allowance
- Conference allowance
- Computer allowance
- Thesis allowance
- Support for overseas attachment (where applicable)
**All rates/allowances are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time.
Service Commitment
Upon completion of their studies, candidates will return to contribute to A*STAR's RIs for a service commitment period of up to three years.
