A*STAR JC Awards The A*STAR Science Award (Junior College) is given to local junior college students who demonstrate particularly strong aptitude and interest in math and science to spur their passion in scientific research and development (R&D).     Terms of Award The Award covers school fees subsidies up to S$200/month and an allowance of S$1,000 per year. It is tenable for 2 years; however, continuation of award in JC2 is subjected to excellent academic performance in JC1 promotional examinations and continued interest in science and mathematics. The Award carries no bond. Special Benefits Awardees have the opportunity to take up a research internship at A*STAR’s research institutes during JC1 school holidays where they gain first-hand experience working on research projects, an immersion into R&D labs and opportunities to observe and interact with researchers at close range.  Awardees will also be given special invitations to A*STAR seminars and conferences by A*STAR scientists and renowned scientists from around the world. Awardees will receive periodic updates on the latest research work at A*STAR and happenings in science and research. Eligibility Criteria The Award is opened to Singaporean JC students who have outstanding academic performance in science and mathematics subjects and a passion for research. Award and Application About 120 awards are offered through schools to JC1 students annually. Applications are invited through nominations by schools only.
