Professor Sir Adrian Smith, Director-General for Knowledge and Innovation of the UK Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), visited A*STAR on 3 April 2012. He was accompanied by Professor David Delpy, Chief Executive of UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), H.E. Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner in Singapore and 3 other delegates. The delegation was hosted by Mr Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman A*STAR. At the meeting, both parties appreciated the good level of research collaboration between the UK and Singapore, such as through the UK-Singapore Partners in Science Programme, as well as through the numerous projects between A*STAR research institutes and UK public research labs and companies. The meeting also saw a good exchange of the current research landscape and priorities of both countries. The visit ended with a tour of the Skygarden, where the delegation was informed of the upcoming developments in the One-North area.
