ASTAR-Tekes Joint Grant Call
A*STAR and Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation plan to conduct annual Joint Calls for Proposals under the A*STAR-Tekes Memorandum of Understanding, which was renewed in December 2009.
The goal of the Joint Calls for Proposals is to promote R&D collaborations between (i) Finland-based public institutes, and (ii) Singapore public sector research organisations including A*STAR RIs, through joint scientific projects.
For 2010, joint proposals are invited to be submitted in the following areas:
1. Sustainable Development
2. Healthcare, Wellness & Aging
Joint proposals in other areas could also be considered.
A panel of experts will review and identify proposals that are innovative, demonstrate a high level of scientific pursuit, challenge paradigms and set international benchmarks for funding consideration.
Each research team must be made up of at least one Singapore-based researcher and one Finland-based researcher. The research project, which can last up to 3 years, must be conducted in Singapore and in Finland. A*STAR will fund the research costs of the Singapore-based researcher, while Tekes will fund the research costs of the Finland-based researcher. The total value of a combined grant award will typically be in the range of S$400,000 to S$1,000,000 (approximately €200,000 to €500,000).
Each research team must send an application to both A*STAR and Tekes.
Application forms for Singapore-based researchers are available here:
