Singapore-China Joint Grant Call
The Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) announces the 8th call for proposals under the Singapore – China Joint Research Programme, implemented in August 1998.
This international joint research programme aims to stimulate information exchange leading to cooperative research to advance science and technology in both countries. The training of research manpower is deemed as a key performance measure of this joint research programme.
For 2011, joint proposals in the area of “Sustainable/New Energy” are invited to be submitted.
A panel of experts will review and identify proposals that are innovative, demonstrate a high level of scientific pursuit, challenge paradigms and set international benchmarks for funding consideration.
Each research team must be made up of at least one Singapore-based researcher and one China-based researcher. The research project, which can last up to 3 years, must be conducted in Singapore and in China. A*STAR will fund the research costs of the Singapore-based researcher, while China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) will fund the research costs of the China-based researcher. The research project will be funded approximately up to S$250,000 (for the Singapore component) for up to 3 years.
Each research team must send an application to both A*STAR and China-based researchers should separately apply to China’s MOST.
Application forms for Singapore-based researchers are available here:
Completed softcopy forms saved in a labeled compact disc (CD) and hardcopy submissions with signatures must be submitted through the Directors’ Office, Office of Research, or equivalent, to the SERC Programme Officer by 30th April 2011, 5:00pm SST, to the following address:
