Joint Council Thematic Programmes

A*STAR, being one of the lead agencies that fosters world-class scientific research and talent in Singapore, engages in R&D in Biomedical Sciences (BMS), and Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE). This is in support of Singapore's key economic visions and clusters.

The interface of BMS and PSE presents many unique opportunities; and to this end, A*STAR has plans to fund large-scale thematic programmes in the interdisciplinary domains.

The Thematic Programmes will involve interdisciplinary research by leveraging on the capabilities across the various research institutes in A*STAR to create new breakthroughs.

Initial proposed large scale programmes include Advanced Microscopy for Bioimaging, Quantitative Biology of Complex Systems and Bioenergy.
