Purpose

The A*STAR International Fellowship provides PhD graduates with 2 years of fully funded post-doctoral training at top overseas laboratories to expand their research experience and learn new skills to advance their scientific careers. The international exposure will enable post docs to connect with the global research community and build international networks. Upon completion of their post-doctorate training, scholars can look forward to embarking on an exciting career at one of A*STAR's Research Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should be final year PhD graduates from Biomedical, Physical Science and Engineering at NUS, NTU or overseas institutions. 
• Candidates should possess excellent publication records
• Candidates should not have existing bonds to any institutions
• Candidate should be a Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident or ASEAN National. Successful candidates who are not Singaporeans are required to (i) take up Singapore Citizenship and (ii) undergo a one-year research attachment at an A*STAR research institute, prior to their post-doctoral training.
•  Candidates should have a strong letter of endorsement from their PhD/relevant supervisors
• Candidates should have gained or be in the process of gaining admission into a relevant post-doctoral position at a top overseas university/laboratory

Award Details*

Successful candidate will be given support for up to 2 years of overseas post-doctoral research training.

Successful candidates will receive:

• Full tuition fees
• Monthly overseas living allowance
• Monthly sustenance allowance
• Setting-in allowance
• Return airfares
• Conference allowance
• Health insurance coverage

*All rates/allowances vary according to country and university/lab, and are subject to A*STAR adjustments from time to time

A*STAR accepts and processes applications throughout the year. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by A*GA to approach A*STAR Research Institutes to speak with the prospective supervisor and Executive Director to endorse the application.

The completed application form will be returned to A*STAR Graduate Academy directly via the Research Institute.
