Purpose

A*STAR International Fellowship

This category offers fully funded overseas post-doctoral opportunities of up to two years to top PhD graduates from NUS, NTU and overseas institutions.  It provides another avenue for our local young scientists to gain invaluable international training.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates should be PhD graduates from Biomedical, Physical Science and Engineering at NUS, NTU or overseas institutions. 
  • Candidates should possess excellent publication records
  • Candidates should not have existing bonds to any institutions
  • Candidate should be a Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident or ASEAN National. Successful candidates who are not Singaporeans are required to (i) take up Singapore Citizenship and (ii) undergo a one-year research attachment at an A*STAR research institute, prior to their post-doctoral training.
  •  Candidates should have a strong letter of endorsement from their PhD/relevant supervisors
  • Candidates should have gained or be in the process of gaining admission into a relevant post-doctoral position at a top overseas university/laboratory

Award Details/Coverage:

  • Monthly sustenance allowance
  • Monthly overseas living allowance
  • Setting-in allowance
  • Return airfares
  • Conference allowance

*All rates/allowances vary according to country and university/lab, and are subject to A*STAR adjustments from time to time

Service Commitment:

Duration of 1 year from the date of their return.
