Future of Manufacturing Summit @ Singapore on 5 September 2017 (By Invitation Only)

Organised by Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) with support from the Economic Development Board (EDB) Singapore and SPRING Singapore, the inaugural Future of Manufacturing (FoM) Summit @ Singapore brings together global thought-leaders to discuss key topics related to technology trends and industry shifts that are shaping the future of manufacturing from economic, societal and technological perspectives.

As companies prepare for the future of manufacturing by adopting advanced manufacturing technologies, they will face technological challenges such as cyber security, product development integration, implementation strategies and supply chain disruption. The FoM Summit @ Singapore is a one-day flagship event to provide a unique setting where senior top executives from Multinational Companies (MNCs), Large Local Enterprises (LLEs), senior government officials and leading technology providers can exchange ideas on how they are adapting and capturing opportunities in the complex and fast evolving manufacturing landscape. The Summit will comprise presentations, panel sessions and an exhibition showcasing some of the advanced manufacturing technologies. It will also include a segment to discuss social considerations arising from the implementation of FoM technologies.

World Remanufacturing Summit – 6 and 7 September 2017 (Open to Industry)

Following the successful Summit in Beijing in May 2016, the World Remanufacturing Summit 2017 will be hosted in Singapore by the Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre (ARTC), on the 6th and 7th September 2017. The Summit has run annually since 2012, rotating between Europe, North America and China.

The Summit’s three co-Chairmen Professor Rolf Steinhilper (Bayreuth University), Professor Nabil Nasr (Rochester Institute of Technology) and Professor Sheng Zhu (National Key Laboratory for Remanufacturing in Beijing), together with William Schwarck (Publisher/Editor of “Reman World”) bring the event to Singapore for the first time this year.

The summit serves as the leading forum for international remanufacturing research and industry-related collaboration, and keynote speeches will be delivered by industry leading figures from the European, American and Asian remanufacturing communities. As the advent of the digital era has presented immense opportunities for reducing the cost of remanufacturing and unlocking its potential, the proposed theme for this year’s summit will be the Digitisation of Remanufacturing. Areas to be covered at the Summit include:

  • Reman business model and reverse logistics
  • Reman markets and future development
  • Research and innovations in remanufacturing technology

Launch of A*STAR’s Tech Access Initiative on 8 September 2017 (By Invitation Only)

A*STAR’s Tech Access Initiative provides access to A*STAR’s installed base of advanced manufacturing equipment/facilities, ranging from inspection tools to advanced equipment such as robotised 3D scanners and laser powder beds for additive manufacturing. SMEs can learn, experiment and prototype with the advanced tools, thereby mitigating the high upfront cost of investment. With the experience gained, companies can opt to scale up and acquire the equipment to capture new business opportunities.

The launch of A*STAR’s Tech Access Initiative will be made at the opening of the Industrial Additive Manufacturing Facility (IAMF) that is jointly supported by A*STAR and EDB. Additive Manufacturing (AM) tools at the IAMF are part of the tools made available to SMEs under the Tech Access Initiative. The event is expecting a turn-out of over 80 companies, and will comprise a presentation on the Tech Access Initiative, clinics on AM and a demonstration of the suite of AM technologies available at IAMF.
