About the A*STAR-WMG EngD Programme
The EngD degree provides a more industry-oriented doctorate than the traditional PhD. EngD candidates can expect to carry out applied research under the themes of Design, Materials, Manufacturing, Systems and Business that result in innovative solutions for real-world manufacturing industry problems. The programme will help candidates to develop skill sets to apply innovative thinking, carry out rigorous analysis and good management practices in order to be ahead of competitors. EngD candidates are evaluated on their portfolio, which comprises coursework, project reports, publications and a personal profile that demonstrate their innovation and project leadership abilities.

WMG’s Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in Advanced Manufacturing is the first of its kind in Singapore. The four-year scholarship programme comprises two years of studies at WMG in the UK, and two years of research based in A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) in Singapore. SIMTech will lead in applied research projects relevant to the needs of the manufacturing industry while WMG will provide taught classroom modules on related subjects. These include aspects of manufacturing significant to the economy, such as 3D Additive Layer Manufacturing, big data analytics, biomedical manufacturing, and robotics. EngD candidates will work with supervisors who have both academic and industry expertise. Graduates of the programme will be conferred an EngD degree by the University of Warwick.
