The Tech Access Initiative (TAI) launch was officiated by the Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and National Development, Dr. Koh Poh Koon, on 8th September 2017 by ARTC with a total attendance of around 100 delegates. Tech Access scheme aims to support Singapore companies, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector, in using advanced machine tools for prototype testing and product measurements in ARTC. This includes the utilization of specialised equipment such as high-pressure cold sprays and robotised 3D scanning and inspection.
The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) strategy recognises future of manufacturing (FoM) technologies such as additive manufacturing, digitalisation and automation as key supporters for the competition among Singapore’s manufacturing companies. Therefore, has plans to aid smaller companies in overcoming their limitations to achieve higher efficiency.
One of the new facilities under Tech Access is the Industrial Additive Manufacturing Facility (IAMF), where production of high-quality, complex metal components is now enabled. These advances in additive manufacturing technologies can help improve the performance of products through the integration of existing operations.
