How can I sign up for this membership?

Please fill in and sign the application form (downloadable from IMRE website in PDF version), then send a hardcopy of the form, together with payment, to:

How do I make payment for the membership?

The preferred payment method is by cheque. Please make the payment to “Institute of Materials Research and Engineering. We also accept payment via i-banking. Please contact us for more information on this mode of payment.

I want to sign up for the membership. As I sign up the membership after February, do I still have to pay full membership fees?

No, you do not need to pay full membership fees. Prospective members will be charged on prorated membership fees.

How do I know if I am being accepted a member after signing up for the membership?

Upon receiving payment, an acknowledgement letter and a receipt will be delivered to the member. Please note that letter and receipt will be delivered separately.

Which category of the membership do I belong to and what is the difference between the two categories?

  • If your company (1) has LESS than 200 staff or, (2) with an annual sales turnover of LESS than S$100 million, please select category 1.
  • If your company (1) has MORE than 200 staff or, (2) with an annual sales turnover of MORE than S$100 million, please select category 2.
Do I still need to report to the security area despite being a member?

Yes, due to security reasons, we still require our members to report to the security area upon arrival.

How can I use the facilities and equipment in IMRE? Do I need to undergo any prior training before use?

For facilities & equipment use, please contact our SnFPC specialists via email to Ms. Shen Lu or Dr. Vivian Lin for further details. There are two working models in SnFPC:

  • SnFPC specialists can perform a variety of service work for you ranging from simple one-stage processing job to full device fabrication from our standard processes, or a characterisation service.
  • If you plan to use a piece of SnFPC equipment regularly, SnFPC can either train you or suggest a relevant training course for you. Subsequently, you will attend the compulsory IMRE Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Cleanroom Orientation briefing sessions and become an authorised user for that particular equipment. Thereafter, you will be able to book the equipment on-line and come into IMRE any time during office hours to use it.
Do I need to undergo any EHS training in IMRE before using the facilities in IMRE?

Yes, safety training will be provided to certified users of equipment in IMRE.

How will I be charged for using these facilities?

There are different rate (charged hourly) for the use of equipment in IMRE, depending on its categories. Please contact SnFPC for more information.

When can I use these facilities? Is there a maximum usage hour for the facilities?

No, there is no limitation to the number of hours that members can use these facilities. However, members need to note that the use of these facilities is subjected to availability.

I need some help from IMRE experts for my company project, what are the relevant procedures to contact the relevant IMRE specialist?

You may contact your respective company representative who will convey the message to IMRE representative. IMRE representative will then seek for a suitable IMRE specialist who will contact you directly to arrange a meet-up session.

Do I have to meet the IMRE experts in IMRE? Can I invite and meet them in my company instead?

Members are advised to arrange the venue of the appointment within IMRE compound.

How many hours can I meet with IMRE expert every month? How is it being recorded?

Members can clock up to 5 hours every month for the meet-up session (accumulative). Before and after each session, members will be required to sign the log-in book.

I am interested in an area which I did not indicate when signing up, is it possible for me to join the event on this area?

Yes, please feel free to contact us if you are interested.

How will I be informed of the upcoming member events? How can I participate?

All events and its dates will be published on Events page. Invitation emails will be sent out to members to confirm their attendance.

Are members allowed to propose theme for next networking session?

Yes, we will be glad to receive any recommendations from members. However, do inform us in advance for any ideas or suggestions. Please note that the final theme chosen is still subjected to the decision by the institute.

How do I renew the membership?

Notification emails will be sent to companies 1 month before membership expiry. Companies can renew their membership by sending cheque payment to the institute before 31st December.
