The Precision Engineering Workforce Skills Qualifications Graduate Diploma in Precision Measurements and Characterisation (PMC) is a joint initiative of the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Agency. The objective of the course is to transfer the core competencies including fundamental knowledge and hands-on skills in optics, precision measurements, automatic inspection and material characterisation required for managers and engineers in precision engineering related manufacturing industries.
The course will be conducted through a series of lectures and hands-on experiments. Participants gain basic knowledge, techniques and hands-on skills in optics and lighting, machine vision, precision dimensional measurements, laser interferometer and precision machine metrology, precision instruments, measurement error and uncertainty analysis, material testing and characterisation, metrology measurement standards and traceability. Besides these basic measurement technologies, participants will also acquire advanced knowledge and technology trends on precision measurements for precision engineering.
