World Metrology Day 2016


The A*STAR National Metrology Centre (NMC) and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) are jointly organising a Conference on “Measurements in a Dynamic World” on 20 May 2016, in conjunction with the annual World Metrology Day.

The World Metrology Day marks the founding of the Metre Convention by seventeen nations on 20 May 1875. The Convention sets the framework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and the uniformity of measurement in commercial and industrial applications.

High value manufacturing creates value and brings about sustainable growth and major economic benefits. Hear from our keynote speaker, Mr Pete Loftus from Rolls-Royce plc, who will touch on the measurement challenges and opportunities in this area:

  • Current and emerging trends in High Value Manufacturing Industry, and the role of dynamic measurement in product R&D Design, Manufacturing, and Service operation
  • The importance of measurement science, especially dynamic measurement in product & process innovations
  • Examples on how enterprises can partner research institutes to develop new products or improve manufacturing processes
