Course Outline
This course aims to provide participants with the basic concepts and practical knowledge in light measurement. The laboratory session will offer participants an opportunity to see a variety of modern light measurement equipment and understand the calibration processes. The course outline is as follows:
1. Introduction to light measurement
2. Basic instruments for light measurements
3. Traceability of light measurement
4. Lux meter and its calibration
5. UV irradiance meter and its calibration

The course will be useful for management and technical staff working in optically related and precision engineering industrial sectors.

  • Introduction to fundamental principles of optical radiation measurements:Optical radiation and light, basic concepts and quantities of measurements in radiometry and photometry, sources of optical radiation, detectors and their properties, basic instruments for optical radiation measurement, traceability and uncertainty of optical radiation measurements

  • Photometry measurement and calibration (lux meter)
  • Radiometry measurement and calibration (UV irradiance meter)
