Machine Structural Analysis and Vibration Testing

Suppressing unwanted vibration is a critical issue in the development of precision machinery and equipment, especially for high-speed and ultra-precision machines. As conventional strength-based structural design and analysis approaches become inadequate to tackle this issue, there is a great need for precision machines to be designed for structural compatibility and vibration minimisation. This one-day workshop is specifically designed to enhance the working knowledge of the participants with hands-on exercises on structural analysis and vibration testing. The workshop, coupled with lab demonstrations, will cover the fundamental concepts and issues related to mechanical vibration, advanced vibration testing and instrumentation, and finite element structural analysis.
