Welding has long been used for joining and for material build-up. A good understanding of recent technological advances will enable the achievement of higher productivity and more precise control over the welding process. Furthermore, new applications are continuously being developed with advanced welding technology. This course will focus on the advances in welding technology and its applications.

Course Leader :

Dr Sun Zheng obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland. He has more than 15 years of working experience in the field of materials joining in research institute, university and industrial environments. Dr Sun who specialises in fusion welding processes and welding metallurgy has published a few dozen papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He was the joint recipient of the 1995 National Technology Award for contributions in marine repair processes using electron beam technology.
