Introduction:

Mr Steven Tong worked in PSB (formerly SISIR) from 1986 in the areas of metal manufacturing process development, die design, material characterisation and failure analysis, technical consultancy and process monitoring. He joined SIMTech in 1993. Working on the development of aluminium and magnesium die casting, semi-solid casting, data acquisition and process monitoring, stamping and forging for industry. A Chartered Engineer (CEng) since 1994.

His research focus is on hybrid metal forming processing techniques such as liquid forging, rotary forming, micro-forming and combined stamping forging process. The major objectives of these various research interests are to improve part quality, reducing the weight and increase the strength of the components.
Research Interest:Metal forming processes of metals of lightweight and high strength properties to its near or net shape geometry, processes include liquid forging, rotary forming and microforming.
