The A*STAR Model Factory at SIMTech is a learning factory for Industry 5.0 that allows companies to experience and experiment with advanced manufacturing technologies in a collaborative environment, enabling industry co-innovation with stakeholders to test-bed and jointly develop innovative solutions.

With key elements of value chain resilience, smart and sustainable circular manufacturing, and a human-centric immersive digital twin, the Model Factory showcases Al-enabled Manufacturing through a suite of Cyber-Physical Production System (CPPS) technologies and smart sensors that allow systems to Sense & understand, Think and make decisions, and Adapt and Respond correctly. This is part of the effort towards Autonomous Manufacturing.

Underpinning Technology Platform

The Manufacturing Control Tower (MCT^TM) is an Al-enabled Industrial Internet of Things (loT) digital platform developed by SIMTech. It is designed to facilitate the adoption of advanced digital manufacturing technologies, providing companies with comprehensive visibility and end-to-end decision-making oversight of manufacturing process.

MCT^TM is based on SIMTech's Cyber-Physical Production System (CPPS) technologies, which enable a Sense & Response manufacturing environment. The platform is able to collect and analyse data from across the manufacturing value chain in real-time, and consequently to use this data to identify and respond to problems in an effective and efficient manner. This enables vertical alignment and operational compatibility that spans from the shopfloor level, extends through the enterprise, and ultimately connects to the entire value chain. This also serves as the foundation to build the Value Chain Control Tower^TM (VCCT^TM) in support of Distributed Smart Value Chains.
