Prior to his role leading AMTA, Xianting established the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) in Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as the founding director to transfer knowledge and capability to the industry through case studies and hands-on practical training to meet technology and skills gaps. Under his leadership, SIMTech launched a broad portfolio of industrial training programmes to support the industry using a Learn-Practise-Implement model, which benefited about 1800 local companies with more than 8000 PMETs trained.
Besides his role in leading industrial training development, Xianting has been an active research scientist in the field of nanocomposite coating materials and plasma-enhanced PVD thin film processes. He published extensively, with his research outcomes and scientific achievements recognised internationally.
Xianting obtained his PhD degree in Physics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995, and his MSc and BSc degrees from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China in 1987 and 1982, respectively.

Dr LIU Shiyu is the Head of Skills Development at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy (AMTA). He oversees AMTA’s industry engagement to identify skills gaps and training needs and contributes to the contextualization of training content to address the gaps and needs identified.
Shiyu also leads AMTA’s collaboration programs with government agencies, industry leaders and training providers to provide holistic supports to companies’ advanced manufacturing transformation.
Prior to joining AMTA, Shiyu was a technical expert in the field of advanced manufacturing with working experience in MNC, SME and research institution. He has strong expertise in the management of inter-disciplinary and collaborative programs in the fields of advanced manufacturing, new materials development, and industrial digital transformation.
Mr Chua Yong Quan

Mr CHUA Yong Quan focuses on skills and training development for companies by identifying skills gaps for training needs. With a strong emphasis on fostering collaboration with strategic partners to bridge the gap between industry and training requirements. Thus, driving innovation and empowering companies on their learning journey and fostering growth through advanced manufacturing technologies.
Prior to his role with AMTA, Yong Quan was a Senior Research Engineer with Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, where he specialized on sensorization and connectivity of machines on the shop floor. His research interests are in digitalisation and industrialisation technologies. With over 9 years of industry experience, he successfully led his team in implementing sensorization and connectivity solutions, enabling real-time monitoring and analysis for enhanced operational efficiency.
Yong Quan received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2013 from Nanyang Technological University. Reflecting to his commitment to continuous learning and professional development, he has obtained his Workforce Skills Qualifications Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance in 2021.

Ms Janice NG oversees AMTA’s marketing & publicity initiatives and activities.
Prior to joining AMTA, Janice was a programs administrator in the education and healthcare sectors with working experience in National University of Singapore and National University Health System (NUHS). She has strong expertise in the management of courses and exams in the medical sector.
Janice received her degree in Communication Studies from Nanyang Technological University in 2020.
