IMRE is a research institute of the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Established in September 1997, we have strong fundamentals in materials development, analysis, characterization and fabrication. IMRE is an institute with over 400 researchers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to conduct world-class materials science research to improve lives and capture economic value for Singapore. Our researchers have published over 5000 papers in the past 10 years, publishing in premier journals such as Science, Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and more. Our researchers have won numerous international and local awards and achievements, a further testament of their high calibre.
Harnessing our core competence, we have assembled interdisciplinary teams within IMRE and in the greater academic and industrial ecosystem in critical technology areas. We enable fundamental new materials discoveries and develop advanced materials that lead to new commercial products.
We partner international and local organisations, research institutes and industry in a synergistic, multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to materials research. We aim to accelerate materials research and move from "Made in Singapore" towards "Created in Singapore". Development depends on innovation, and innovation depends on talents. We invite talents to join us. We welcome all collaborations to co-create with us.
