What is the SGUnited Skills (SGUS) Programme?

The SGUnited Skills (SGUS) Programme which opens for unemployed or retrenched Singaporeans and Permanent Residents is a full-time Train & Place programme of 6 to 9-month duration. Trainees will also receive a training allowance of $1,200 per month for the duration of the programme to cover basic subsistence expenses.

Applications for the SGUS courses are ongoing and each new intake may only commence upon receiving sufficient registrations to form a class!

Programme Introduction

Advanced instrumentation and quality control cuts across various industries like medtech, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), semiconductor, electronics, and precision engineering as well as in emerging industry sectors such as food, farming and sustainability. Coupled with the growing need for enhanced productivity through digitalisation, there is an increasing demand for highly skilled engineers. R&D engineers, process engineers, quality engineers, and manufacturing engineers are highly sought after for the effective adoption of advanced imaging and machine-vision technologies in various industry sectors.

With digitalisation becoming a key enabler to enhance and upgrade quality control in the new era of manufacturing, instrumentation technologies are digitalised. In turn, measurement and inspection processes are made more intelligent and autonomous. This SGUS course will provide the fundamental knowledge on advanced instrumentation for quality control, as well as the skills of building measurement and inspection solutions, using digital tools, such as computer-aided design, simulation, digital instrumentation and data analysis.

Together with the lecturing modules and laboratory practises, trainees can understand better the latest tools, instruments and be familiar with the latest quality control technologies. Projects will be designed based on real use cases, and supervised by A*STAR domain experts, to link the training contents with the actual industrial demands.
