Discovering an Asian-specific Lung Cancer

Scientists from A*STAR’s Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), in collaboration with the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and the Lung Cancer Consortium Singapore have completed one of the largest comprehensive genome studies of Asian lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) more. The study revealed that a unique sub-group of lung tumours, which contain high amounts of immune cells, appear to be more inflammatory in Asian patients than European patients.

Findings from this landmark study, which was published in Nature Genetics more, will deepen researchers’ and clinicians’ understanding of individual patient’s response to drug treatments, thereby enabling a more precise approach to future treatment.
