ROS (Robot Operating System) is a platform-agnostic collection of software frameworks for robotic software development. This non vendor-dependent framework helps companies to reduce dependencies on certain brands of hardware, reducing cost and increasing system flexibility. ROS2 is the next generation version of the ROS platform that was aimed at improving user-facing APIs and increased stability.ROS2 can be applied in various automation tasks, ranging from navigation to perception to manipulation. Its underlying framework allows for seamless communication between different applications, creating a highly modular environment on which to build industry solutions.
The objective of this programme is to learn and apply basic ROS2 concepts as well as leverage open source packages in the context of a manipulation workflow.This programme consists of 4 full-day sessions covering both theoretical concepts and practical hands-on experience for using ROS2 in a manipulation setting. At the end of this programme, participants will understand and gain the capability to integrate ROS2 in their automation software solutions. They will also be able to leverage the Easy Manipulation Deployment package to quickly set up a pick and place application, empowering them to start their system automation journey towards increased efficiency in their industrial processes.

The programme employs the Learn-Practise-Implement™ (LPI™) pedagogy where it leverages the use of ROS2 package Easy Manipulation Deployment as a tool to teach practical ROS2 principles and knowledge in the area of Manipulation, with in depth hands-on practices and assessment.
