Remanufacturing In The Digital Age

Following the successful Summit in Beijing in May 2016, the World Remanufacturing Summit 2017 will be hosted in Singapore by the Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre (ARTC), on the 6th and 7th September 2017. The Summit has run annually since 2012, rotating between Europe, North America and China.

The Summit’s three co-Chairmen Professor Rolf Steinhilper (Bayreuth University), Professor Nabil Nasr (Rochester Institute of Technology) and Professor Sheng Zhu (National Key Laboratory for Remanufacturing in Beijing), together with William Schwarck (Publisher/Editor of “Reman World”) bring the event to Singapore for the first time this year.

Serving as the leading forum for international remanufacturing research and industry-related collaboration, Keynote speeches will be delivered by industry leading figures from the European, American and Asian remanufacturing communities.  As the advent of the digital era has presented immense opportunities for reducing the cost of remanufacturing and unlocking its potential, the proposed theme for this year’s summit will be the Digitization of Remanufacturing. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

  • The future of Remanufacturing
  • Reverse logistics and core management
  • Global Standards and Regulation
  • Research & Innovations in Remanufacturing Technology

ARTC, Singapore & South East Asia

Singapore has a long history in aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul, together with a growing marine remanufacturing sector and established activities in the gas and oil industry. Elsewhere in South East Asia there are also significant remanufacturing activities in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, with automotive, heavy machinery, IT and HDOR companies to the fore.

The ARTC is a public-private collaboration between A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and industry partners that seeks to bridge technological gaps in the adoption of advanced remanufacturing processes. The centre was launched in 2015.
