Senior Research Officer
I graduated from The University of Queensland with an Honours degree in Biotechnology. My previous research was on developing molecular tools for the detection and surveillance of several mosquito-borne viruses including dengue, Japanese encephalitis and West Nile viruses, which represent major public health challenges. During the SARS outbreak in 2003, I was part of a team that was involved in characterizing the SARS coronavirus by tracking its growth in vitro. Thereafter, I continued my career in the pharmaceutical and nutrition industries where I was responsible for the sales performance and marketing management of the products under my care. Returning to research, my current project is on looking at the effects of different types of carbohydrate on the glycaemic responses among the Singapore population.
