Dr Sidney, a trained chemist and research scholar, is currently CEO for the Diagnostics Development Hub and Executive Vice President at A*ccelerate. She works with her team to productise innovative diagnostic technologies at DxD Hub and leads the Incubation and Start-up Management team at A*ccelerate to advise and support startup activities.
She is a serial entrepreneur, who had led and co-led fund-raising activities for biotech startups such as Vanda Pharma and Paradigm Therapeutics, which exited through IPO and acquisition. She is also a member of SPRING Singapore’s Network of MedTech Advisors, a member on the Creativity and Innovation Consultative Panel of Malaysia Productivity Corporation as well as a non-executive board member of INEX Innovations Exchange Pte Ltd, FENIX Pte Ltd, and Mediven Sdn Bhd.
Dr Thomas Li is currently the Chief Technology Officer of DxD Hub, advising and overseeing the technological aspects of the Hub.
Thomas is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience working in the diagnostics industry. He was formally Senior Director, Technology Management, Chief Technology Office, USA and Head of Asia Pacific Technology Management, at Roche in Singapore and was also the former Director of Diagnostics and Biomarker Discovery at Invitrogen Corporation ( Applied Biosystems) in Carlsbad, California.
Thomas received his Bachelor's degree with honors in Chemistry, a Master's in Physical Chemistry and his Ph.D in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Following his formal training, Thomas rose through the scientific and managerial ranks of diagnostics companies such as Miles laboratories (Bayer), Allergenetics (3M), Syntex (Roche), Hycor (Strategene/Agilent), and the Diagnostic Products Corporation (Siemens), before joining Invitrogen/ABI and then Roche.
Thomas is a member of ASCO and AACR, a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, a Fellow of the Association of Clinical Scientists, a Fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry and a Diplomat of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology. Thomas is also an Associate Member of the Early Detection Research Network at The National Cancer Institute (USA). He is an Adjunct Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and US patents, as well as contributing many invited papers and book chapters.
