The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is an institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Established in 2001 as a centre for genomic discovery, the GIS will pursue the integration of technology, genetics and biology towards the goal of individualized medicine.

Post Doctoral Fellow (Software Engineer/Imaging)

As one of the key initiatives in GIS, our group is working on a biotechnology development project involving cutting edge optical imaging system for multiplexed and high-resolution cellular imaging with industry partners in Singapore.

The project will involve engineering instrument development, as well as biological process workflow development. The group consists of Life Science and Engineering professionals from both GIS and our corporate partner. There will also be extensive collaborations with external research and contract engineering organizations.

In this challenging and rewarding career opportunity, you will be required to develop and maintain software that will analyze the data from a sophisticated bio-imaging system.

You will coordinate with algorithm/instrumentation and assay scientists to support core image processing pipelines, track bottlenecks in analysis pipelines, suggest improvements, and work collaboratively with biologists, biochemist, and software developers to analyze data and perform cross-platform data analysis.

Requirements :

  • PhD in a Life Sciences field developing bio-imaging software
  • Masters in Software Engineering may be considered with at least 4 years’ experience developing software for imaging systems
  • Experience developing image processing code in MatLab and Python
  • Knowledge of core concepts in applied statistics
  • Experience in large data management and statistics tools preferred (R and SQL)
  • Ability to work in a team, manage multiple projects, and track timelines.
