With the irruption of digital platforms, the landscape of news consumption and production has experienced profound and transformative changes. For communication scholars, delving into the nuances of these evolving dynamics, especially in relation to political processes, is of paramount interest. In this talk, he will discuss four studies that draw on a variety of computational methods to explore how individuals engage with online news whilst navigating partisan and political divides. Taken together, these studies paint a holistic picture of the online news media landscape and offer nuanced insights into the dynamics of consumption and production on digital platforms. In this talk, Professor Yeung will introduce the SG-LEADS (Singapore Longitudinal Early Development Study) which collects data from a nationally representative sample of households with 5,000 children aged 0-6 at baseline. She will share some of the findings based on this study highlighting important social determinants at the family, childcare, community, and state levels for early childhood development in Singapore. *Do note that this is a physical seminar.
