A*STAR’s I²R joins IBM, Meta, and global organisations to form global AI Alliance for safe and responsible AI .

A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research is proud to join IBM, Meta and many global leaders across academia, research, science and industry as the founding members of the AI Alliance.
This alliance brings together a group of leading organizsations across industry, startup, academia, research and government – including AMD, Dell Technologies, Intel, Imperial College London, NASA, Oracle, Sony Group, The University ofTokyo, Yale University and others- to advance AI that is open, innovative and responsible.
This alliance intends to start or enhance projects that:
- Deploy benchmarks, tools, and other resources that enable the responsible; development and use of AI systems at global scale.
- Support the advocacy and enablement of these tools with the developer community for model and application development.
- Develop and align on meaningful benchmarks and evaluation standards for open model releases and model deployment into applications.
- Responsibly advance the ecosystem of open foundation models with diverse modalities.
- Foster a vibrant AI hardware accelerator ecosystem by boosting contributions and adoption of essential enabling software technology.
- Support global AI skills building, education, and exploratory research.
- Develop educational content and resources to inform the public and policymakers on benefits, risks, solutions and precision regulation for AI.
- Launch initiatives that encourage open development of AI in safe and beneficial ways, and host events to explore AI use cases and showcase how Alliance members are using open technology in AI responsibly and for good.
As a research institute under A*STAR, I²R spearheads research initiatives and actively strives to enhance the tangible impact of our innovations to address the national needs of Singapore and its people.
We are proud to be a founding member of this AI Alliance, which will allow us to play a pivotal role in the ecosystem, contribute to the development of ethical and trustworthy AI innovations with well-regulated AI models for impactful real-world applications.
Through the collective efforts with the rest of the members, we believe that the evolution, application and adoption of AI will reach new heights.
