The paper "Common-Mode Filter using Cavity-Backed Defected Ground Structure for Multilayer PCB" was awarded "Best Symposium Paper" at the 2016 Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (APEMC). This paper involves IHPC's Dr Gao Siping, Ms Lee Hui Min, Dr Richard Gao, Dr Liu Enxiao, and Dr Jason Png, as well as other researchers from Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.
APEMC is one of the three most influential and biggest international conferences in the field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The symposium shares recent advances in all aspects of EMC in the Asia-Pacific region, with active involvement from Europe and North America. Of the over 400 technical papers accepted for oral/poster presentation this year, only three received the "Best Symposium Paper" award.
This paper was the outcome of a project with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. on effective suppression of electromagnetic interference in high-speed multilayer PCBs. Electromagnetic interference is a major concern due to miniaturisation and the relentless increase in signal transmission speed well beyond giga-hertz. This award underlies the relevance and scientific excellence of IHPC's work, and the successful translation of research outcomes to impactful applications.
