Dr Liu Enxiao received the "Technical Achievement Award" given out by the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society at the 2016 IEEE International Symposium on EMC. The Technical Achievement Award, first presented in 1968, is awarded to two recipients on average every year. This award recognises significant technical accomplishments in the field of EMC, and is the highest technical award of the IEEE EMC Society. Dr Liu received this award for his outstanding contributions to the circuit-field modelling of high-speed integrated circuits, packages, and printed circuit boards.
Dr Liu has been with IHPC for more than eleven years. He is currently a senior scientist, as well as deputy department director of the Electronics & Photonics department. In recent years, together with his team members, Dr Liu has delivered several impactful projects, such as working with Samsung Electronics to develop a near-field scanning technology for radiation prediction of mobile devices, with SMRT Trains Ltd on non-intrusive condition monitoring of power cables, and with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd on the mitigation of electromagnetic interference.
Besides working on his research areas, Dr Liu is also a mentor to younger researchers within his department. For the past ten years, he has actively served the EMC community by assuming the roles of chair and executive committee member of the IEEE EMC Singapore chapter, and participated in more than ten different international symposiums in various roles such as general chair, technical committee co-chair, organising chair, and international advisory committee member.
