A multi-disciplinary team from GM and CxSy consisting of Dr Yang Bo, Dr Teo Soo Kng, Dr Huang Dong, Dr Christopher Monterola, Dr Su Yi, and Bart Hoeben, an intern with IHPC, won second place in the final phase of the annual PhysioNet/CinC Challenge 2014.
This year’s challenge was organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, on the topic of “Robust Detection of Heart Beats in Multimodal Data”. The aim was to develop a robust computer method to locate heart beats in continuous long-term data from bedside monitors and similar devices that record not only electrocardiogram (ECG) but also other physiologic signals. A total of 317 algorithms from 60 teams worldwide were submitted for the Challenge. The PhysioNet/CinC Challenge is an annual competition held in conjunction with the International Conference on Computing in Cardiology (CinC).
