Dr Desmond Cai is a Scientist and Group Manager of the Energy Systems Group at the A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) in Singapore. He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.
Dr Cai leads a team of researchers to perform modelling, simulation, and optimisation, of integrated multi-energy systems. His research aims to develop infrastructure planning and policy analyses tools to improve the integration of renewable and distributed energy resources. His work has contributed to Singapore’s First Digital Twin for the National Power Grid as well as the Singapore Integrated Transport and Energy Model (SITEM) for electric vehicle charging.
