Dr Daniel Cheong is currently the Programme Director for A*STAR’s Industrial IoT Innovation (I3) programme. Daniel played a key role, first as the Business Development Manager, in setting up this initiative and establishing industry partnerships in 2017. He assumed his current appointment in April 2020.
Prior to I³, Daniel was a Senior Scientist at A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) between 2015 and 2017 and also from 2006 to 2013 where he focused on molecular simulations of soft matter systems, such as surfactants, polymers, and peptides and held appointments as Team Leader of Computational Chemistry and Programme Manager for Consumer Care. Daniel has also worked in Medlinx Acacia, a medical device start-up developing surgical implants where he was the Business Development Director, as well as Covidien PLC, a medical device MNC, which was acquired by Medtronic in 2015.
Daniel graduated with a Bachelor of Science (with University Honours) from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Carnegie Mellon University in 1997 and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Princeton University in 2006. He also obtained his Master of Business Administration from Singapore Management University in 2014.
