Yann Barrandon and group members transferred to the Skin Research Institute of Singapore on the 1st October 2020.
The laboratory is developing research in the field of adult (tissue) stem cells using mammalian skin as a study model. Research projects range from understanding the basic biology of stem cells to their use in cell therapy and gene therapy.
Understanding basic biological phenomena that regulate multiplication (proliferation), migration (movement), specification (identity), differentiation of stem cells, during development, renewal, repair (healing) and skin regeneration
Development of in vitro and in vivo models (cell culture, animal model) to improve the performance of therapeutic stem cell transplantation in humans (treatment of burn victims, reconstruction of hair follicles and sweat glands , gene therapy of epidermolysis bullosa).
