IME's Bioelectronics programme is supported by the institute's capabilities spanning advanced packaging, photonics, micro-electro-mechanical systems and integrated circuits and systems. It collaborates with top universities, renowned research institutes, medical practitioners, biologists, clinicians, hospitals and leading companies of the biomedical industry to develop cutting edge technologies in the field.
The programme focuses on two main areas, namely cell-based in vitro diagnostics and molecular-based diagnostics. The R&D efforts have resulted in development of performance enhancing diagnostics platform technologies, which cover electrical as well as photonic detection methodologies coupled with microfluidic sample manipulation.
In addition, the programme also offers a range of specialty services to support biomedical companies in their R&D requirements.
