A*STAR’s IME has received the Go-the-Extra-Mile-Service (GEMS) Award and the A*STAR Borderless Award at the annual A*STAR Workplan Seminar (WPS) 2015.
The awards ceremony which was held during the Seminar at the Resorts World Sentosa on 8 April 2015, recognised the outstanding achievements by A*STAR research institutes, entities and individuals in the past year.
Ms. Laverne Lim Sze Ting, a senior officer with IME’s Industry Development Group was awarded the A*STAR Go-the-Extra-Mile-Service (GEMS) Award for her exceptional service. Ms. Lim’s dedication to her work includes value-add service such as creating informative and useful databases that enable ease of information tracking and retrieval, as well as taking up additional new responsibilities when there is a need within the department. Along with her proactive attitude in handling tasks assigned and good interpersonal skills, she won the respect of her co-workers and acknowledgement from her superiors.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yeoh Wooi Gan, Director of Industry Development at IME was among the winners of the A*STAR Borderless Award. This is the second time IME has received the A*STAR Borderless Award, which recognises staff who exemplify the borderless values (‘teamwork’) through proactive cross agencies collaboration.
Mr. Yeoh was part of a team led by Dr. Lee Eng Wah from SIMTech in the RFID Innovation Platform, a programme initiated by National RFID Centre. The programme was a collaboration between A*STAR, EDB, IDA and SPRING Singapore which aimed to catalyse the growth of RFID market players and usage of RFID technologies.
The RFID Innovation Platform efforts have resulted in substantial RFID adoptions across many industry sectors. In 2014 alone, there were about 400 adoptions of A*STAR’s RFID technology.
