A paper by IME researchers was awarded the ISIC Best Paper Award at the 2014 International Symposium on Integrated Circuits (ISIC) on 11 Dec 2014. The award recognizes new developments in the field of theory, design and implementation of integrated circuits and systems. The paper, titled "Digital compensation method for the path delay mismatches in GRO-TDC" by Dr. Park Pyoungwon and team, describes a simple compensation method that resolves the calculation errors caused by path delay mismatches in gated-ring oscillator (GRO)-based time-to-digital converter  (TDC). It is useful for reducing quantization noise, which can cause error in signal processing, leading to good signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for applications such as the all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) that is widely used in digital RF transceiver.
