Mr Wang Nan, an attachment student at the A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME) has received the Best Paper Award at the 5th IEEE International Nanoelectronics Conference held at Resort Word Sentosa Singapore from 2 - 4 January 2013. His winning paper “Experimental demonstration of Fano resonance in microfabricated phononic crystal resonators based on two-dimensional silicon slab”, is a student project done in IME supported by National University of Singapore (NUS). Wang Nan is a final-year Electrical and Computer Engineering PhD candidate at the NUS. His project is jointly supervised by Dr. Julius Tsai and Associate Professor Lee Chengkuo of IME and NUS, respectively.

The winning entry was selected out of 80 high quality submissions that were appraised on the criteria of novelty, impact and oral presentations of the submitted technologies.
