IME was named finalist for the prestigious World Technology Award for "Enhancing Healthcare with Integrated Cell-based Diagnostic Solutions" in the Health and Medicine Category. IME joins a roster of organisations and individuals from over 60 countries around the world deemed to be doing the most innovative and impactful work. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony on 26 October 2011 in New York City. Last year, IME's silicon photonics technology also emerged among the top finalists in the Communications category.

The World Technology Awards are presented by The World Technology Network (WTN) in association with TIME, Fortune, CNN, Science/AAAS, and Technology Review, to outstanding innovators from each sector within the science and technology arena for innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance. Nominees for the World Technology Awards are selected through an intensive global process. Winners will be chosen among the finalists with the input of an elite panel.
