NGTC IME

National Gallium Nitride Technology Centre

On 22nd March, NGTC marked a significant milestone as our first tool was installed in our state-of-the-art cleanroom, which is an e-beam evaporator. Looking ahead, NGTC aims to commence full operations by 2025, following the commissioning and qualification of all process tools.

PYROELECTRICITY-BASED DETECTORS

Pyroelectricity-based detectors developed at IME

Led by Principal Scientist Doris Ng, the IME team created detectors using aluminium nitride (AlN) and scandium aluminium nitride (ScAlN), which are compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) electronics.

Sneak peek of our joint paper which is an OFC Top-Scored paper at OFC Conference 2024. IME’s Optical Engine (OE) packaging platform for Data Centers, capable of supporting an impressive bandwidth of 1.6 Terabits per second. To put this into perspective, it is 4X the bandwidth of state-of-the-art pluggable transceivers used in most modern data centres.
