Tech boost for ChemoPower

Ms Georgina Seah helped local SME, ChemoPower Technology, to expand their range of novel and innovative solutions for analytical chemistry applications. The company not only saw a boost in sales requests from potential customers, but it was also able to increase collaboration opportunities with other companies, including an MNC who is interested in licensing their technologies. More


SME and MNC gain from IMRE innovation 

HVS Engineering, a local enterprise, collaborated with IMRE to build a new water treatment system for cooling tower applications that help save water and energy. The system, developed by IMRE scientist, Dr. Kumar Manippady, produced environment-friendly disinfectants to treat the water and lower the ion concentration of water so that it could be reused, achieving water savings of about 7 percent each month and energy savings of more than 5 percent per month. More


Power pack

IMRE scientist, Dr. Li Xu, developed a high performance hybrid polymeric material with an oxygen barrier function for food packaging, to better preserve the nutritional value of food and extend the shelf life of packed food by at least 50 percent. To date, the technology has been licensed to companies, such as Dou Yee Enterprises, a large local enterprise, to work on producing packaging for the retail market. More 


New R&D capabilities and knowledge 

help increase a company’s productivity and competitiveness

Capability enhancements for TechnoSpex’s optical micro-spectroscopy products resulted in growth in product applications for the local SME. IMRE scientist, Dr. Phang In Yee, used his expertise in materials to optimise the efficiency and level of customisation of TechnoSpex’s products. This contributed to an increase in the company’s revenue, and heightened interest and recognition from their local and international consumers.More


Encapsulating beauty

Leveraging IMRE patented thermogel and encapsulation technologies, scientists from the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR, helped local SME Ikeda Group launch a new commercial skincare range called IRÉN that features the world’s first sprayable serum. More


LION Corporation collaboration

Some common household cleaning solutions and laundry detergents may contain harmful chemical biocides which can cause bacteria-resistance and environmental damage. Harnessing IMRE’s polymer bank, IMRE, A*STAR and LION set up a joint R&D lab. More
