About the Event
Technology for high productivity on precision machined components are of great economic importance in almost all precision industries including oil/gas, aerospace, mold/die, electronics, bio-medical components, machine tool, defense, etc.

Mechanical components can be manufactured using various machining processes. However, the surface roughness regulation has been tightened and the demand of the precision parts with complex shape has been continuously increasing. Even though high speed machining and tooling technology have been significantly improved, engineers often encounter surface quality problems due to a machining vibration. This leaves them no alternative but to sacrifice productivity in order to meet the surface tolerance. This is caused of the shifting of optimal process zones which change depending on the different combinations of products’ geometry, material and tooling’s dynamics.

This SIMTech technology is relevant to all PE companies and companies from other sectors with machining operations. It will help companies increase productivity and quality in milling, improve the surface quality of the machined part and prolong the tool life by avoiding vibration and chatter.

Introduction

Inventory performance optimization is the low hanging fruit in the digital transformation journey to Industry 4.0 for companies that have implemented ERP systems, be the systems commercial ones or the most common Excel-based in-house solutions. However most of companies cannot harvest the benefits because of the fact that the value of data stored in databases or Excel files are far from being fully realized. The key obstacles come from the confusion or misconception in the selections of inventory planning approaches, as well as the tools and process that implement the approaches.

In this seminar we will illustrate six inventory planning and decision approaches that are employed in SAP ERP system, Microsoft Navision, and SIMTech's inventory planning system, and explain the implementation conditions and considerations for a success deployment, whereby audiences can develop the competence in the selection of the most suitable planning tools to meet their specific business requirements.

Free inventory performance quantification and analysis are provided after the event by using SIMTech's inventory planning system.

Who Should Attend

This event is recommended for Business owners, Supply Chain Directors & Managers, Purchasing Managers, Inventory Managers & Sales Personnel.

Introduction

Corrosion degrades the material and decreases the service lifetime of the components and structures, causing catastrophic failures or loss of assets and even loss of life. Subsequent economic losses due to corrosion can be very significant. Due to its widespread occurrence and multidisciplinary nature, corrosion affects most industrial sectors. Thus, good understanding of the nature of corrosion together with proper protection and maintenance practices is imperative to save a significant percentage of corrosion costs. Proper knowledge, reliable testing and performance evaluation and appropriate corrosion protection solutions are essential for optimum corrosion protection.

This seminar will share some current gaps and challenges in corrosion evaluation and protection considering both local and global trends. Further information on corrosion characterisation techniques with assessment methodologies and advanced corrosion protection coatings strategies will be discussed. Participants will be exposed to opportunities where they can leverage on SIMTech’s expertise and facilities on corrosion assessment and protection to fight against corrosion. The WSQ Corrosion Course, commencing on 10 July and funded by SkillsFuture Singapore, will also be introduced to the participants.

Introduction

Label-free cell separation technologies based on biophysical biomarkers (size, deformability) are important for cost-effective cell purification, and in biomedical applications where target cell surface markers are not well-defined. In this talk, I will present 2 passive cell separation technologies (Cell margination and Dean Flow Fractionation (DFF)) developed in our lab for high throughput blood processing, leukocyte isolation, and exosomes purification. We will also highlight our recent research efforts on integrated inertial-impedance cytometry for single-cell dielectric profiling, as well as on organ-on-chip microarray models. Overall, these continuous-flow techniques greatly facilitate point-of-care testing using liquid biopsy, and can be further multiplexed/cascaded to increase processing throughput and separation resolution.

This event is recommended for participants who are interested in the 2-days "Master Class in Inventory Management in Industry 4.0 Working Environment" or "Inventory Management" WSQ training module.

About the Talk

Industry 4.0 is fundamentally transforming the traditionally siloed supply chains into dynamic and interconnected supply networks. Such a paradigm shift has a significant impact on the flow of information and materials at the supply chain as well as within enterprise, and compels companies to re-think the way in managing inventory. At the same time, more and more companies depend on data analytics techniques to achieve excellent inventory performance and reduce excess inventory.

In this seminar, SIMTech, together with iCognitive, will explain how inventory management practices have evolved in this digital era, particularly in the areas of strategic positioning of inventory, inventory optimization through collaborative planning and execution, implementation of a resilient and responsive inventory network, etc.

In addition, two case studies will be presented to demonstrate how data analytics techniques can be applied in inventory planning to reduce excess inventory. A trial version of the Excel-based “RICE inventory planning solutions” will be given out for free to help participants to gain practical experience in inventory planning and make an immediate impact to business in terms of inventory savings.

Who Should Attend

Business owners, CEOs, Directors, Senior Managers, and professionals who are in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Planning, Purchasing and Sourcing, Inventory and Material Control, and Sales & Operation Planning.

Introduction

Excess inventory vanishes the efforts of striving for excellent inventory performance in many companies. This results in cash flow being tied up and the need for more storage spaces.

If you are stuck in this situation, please join us to find out more about the SIMTech Inventory Planning Programme.

Two case studies will be demonstrated on how to deal with excess inventory through various functions, e.g. express planning, performance analysis and optimization. The planning solutions are sponsored by Enterprise Singapore (ESG).

The free software (trial version) is available for experiencing excel-based RICE inventory planning solutions.

About the Seminar

Due to overwhelming response for the first launch of the microfluidic manufacturing processes course in 2017, SIMTech is once again starting this highly popular course which will begin in October 2018. This seminar aims to give an overview of what participants can learn in this 45 hours course. Microfluidics is a multi-disciplinary field intersecting engineering, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, nanotechnology, and biotechnology, which is creating rapid growing markets worldwide in many areas such as clinical and personal diagnosis, drug screening, water and environment monitoring, food safety, and life science research.

During this interactive course, the participants will learn about the basic concepts of microfluidics technology, and the fundamentals of the device manufacturing through case studies and hands-on experiments. Course participants will gain knowledge and skills on two major techniques for fabricating polymer microfluidic devices, which are plastic injection moulding and joining processes.

With effect from 19 May 2017, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will revise the SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) claims processes to reduce the risk of abuse. Under the new process, while individuals will continue to submit SFC claims, all SFC payments by SSG will be made to training providers instead of individuals. Training providers will collect nett fees from individuals, after offsetting the SFC that will be used.

Under this payment mode, individuals are allowed to make claims up to 60 days before their start of the course till the day of course commencement with effect from 21 Apr 2017. This window period is sufficient for individuals to make their claims to facilitate earlier course registration. When making claims, you should inform your Training Provider on the intention to utilise your SkillsFuture Credit and request for the relevant amount to be offset against the qualifying course fees. You must then submit the claim via the SkillsFuture Credit Portal to pay the relevant credit amount to the Training Provider for your registered course.

Individuals can also visit any of the Workforce Singapore (WSG) Career Centres (click here for locations) to collect forms for manual claim submissions.
