In June 2016, MEL participated in its first MakerFaire, organized by the Science Centre, Singapore.

The event was held over a fun-filled weekend at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and was attended by more than 15,000 visitors, as well as over 700 Maker groups.

This is part of our commitment to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Singapore. We showcased an interactive hologram where participants got to manipulate a three-dimensional model of proteins, play with 3D printed proteins for a better understanding, and even participate in a "hand microbiome" experiment.
