Briefing on Skills Upgrading Programme for Liquid-in-Glass Thermometer Calibration

Introduction

National Metrology Centre (NMC) is introducing an industry programme, comprising training, consultancy and proficiency testing, to upgrade companies’ skills and capabilities to confidently perform liquid-in-glass thermometer calibration.  Liquid-in-glass thermometers, including mercury glass thermometers and alcohol glass thermometers, are used in many industries, and regular calibration is needed to ensure consistent, accurate and reliable measurement readings.  NMC’s programme will benefit companies and expand their capabilities and services in temperature calibration, for in-house and external customers.

In this briefing session, NMC will provide an overview of the Skills Upgrading Programme for Liquid-in-Glass (LIG) Thermometer Calibration, and promote an automated Optical LIG Thermometer Calibration System to be developed by NMC to help participating labs raise measurement accuracy and operational efficiency.
